UCSF Children's Hospital pioneered medical services for children affected with HIV and AIDS. Our Children's HIV/AIDS Treatment Center, designated by California Children's Services, provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and planning for medical care, psychological support, and neuropsychological, nutritional and dental evaluation.

Patients also may participate in research to test the latest medications for HIV and AIDS. We are a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Unit and receive funding from the NIH to research pioneering new treatments for childhood HIV and AIDS.

UCSF's HIV Women's Program also provides care for HIV-infected women as well as their children, who may or may not be HIV-positive.
